- Hipaa-Compliant Claims – November 6, 2003!
HIPAA-COMPLIANT CLAIMS – NOVEMBER 6, 2003! NYSACRA has been briefing its members regularly about the NYS DOH readiness to accept and process HIPAA compliant claims. A letter will be going out this week announcing November 6, 2003 as the date that NY MMIS will be ready to end-to-end test. For a copy of the letter please visit: http://www.nysacra.org/nysacra/DOH-HIPAA-compliant-MMIS.pdf (pdf - 48k) Keep us posted about any issues that you have. In addition, we know that some of our members, when submitting the required Trading Partner Agreement, have crossed out the language considered offensive and not required by many legal authorities. That paragraph is Section 3.2 Limitation of Liability.
GOVERNOR SIGNS BACKGROUND CHECK LAW The Alliance of Long Island Agencies, longtime advocates for the Background Check, hosted the Governor at Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE), for the bill signing ceremony for the legislation enacted on October 7, 2003. This law will eventually provide every agency with the authority to receive criminal background information on any prospective employee. The Alliance welcomed the Governor and thanked him for his support on behalf of the individuals we serve and their families. NYSACRA agencies overwhelmingly supported the concept of obtaining criminal background information with a few exceptions related to the uncertainty of turn around time and the fact that this check will not include a check of the FBI database. once implemented, this new law will provide agencies with the tools they need to help protect the individuals we serve. Please refer to the News & Views issued on October 17, 2003 for information on the implementation of this new law. NYSACRA will provide updates as needed. |
