2006 SSI BENEFIT
PAYMENT SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED
Recent
legislation provides people living in certified OMRDD settings
an increase in their Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The below
figures are effective January 1, 2006. For people residing in ICF/MRs,
the monthly personal allowance will remain $35.00. The SSI
resource exemption remains $2,000.00 for individuals and $3,000.00
for couples. The Medicaid resource exemption for January 1, 2006
is not available at this time.

those Members of Congress that voted NO on
HR
4241, the so-called Deficit Reduction Act, which cut Medicaid
by over $10 billion. Congressman John Sweeney and Congressman
John McHugh broke party ranks and voted NO with the entire
Democratic Congressional caucus, although the final
vote was 217
to 215 for passage. NYSACRA has also set up a unique and easy
