MEDICAID WRAPAROUND FOR MEDICARE PART D PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLANS
The final budget bill passed by the legislature changed the implementation date for the reduction in Medicare Part D wraparound benefits to January 1, 2007. This change had previously been proposed to occur July 1, 2006. The process of Medicaid covering medications that Medicare Part D plans will not cover will continue. We will provide additional information as it becomes to us.
HEALTH CARE ENHANCEMENT II
As per OMRDD’s recent letter to providers the second year of a health care initiative is being offered. The State fiscal year 2006/2007 budget directed funds toward enhancing the health care of voluntary provider staff, particularly direct care and support staff. This initiative is very similar to the employee health care enhancement (identified as HCE I) offered in 2006, except that no provider health care benefit survey will be conducted, no funding benchmark will be incorporated as part of the initiative, there will be no application for retroactive funds and more flexibility/provider discretion in the use of the health care monies is incorporated. All providers who elect to request funding under the 2007 initiative must submit an application irrespective of their application status for HCE I and the due date of the application is on or before July 31, 2006. Applications must be postmarked no later than July 31, 2006 and mailed, return-receipt requested, to Carleen Coons. For more information on this contact Jim Kosakoski at the NYSACRA office.
