Contact Your Representative and Senators IMMEDIATELY!
On March 1st ANCOR informed its members that the House Budget Committee will meet this Thursday, March 3rd to consider a draft of the FY 2006 budget resolution. The Senate Budget Committee will begin their work early next week. The budget committees are expected to consider huge Medicaid cuts-at least $60 billion over 10 years.
THE MESSAGE:
· First do no harm to people with disabilities and the providers who support them.
· Medicaid has not created the federal deficit. Large cuts or caps will shift the cost burden to the states.
· Major changes and cuts should not be made to Medicaid through the budget resolution and reconciliation process.
· Budget numbers should not drive reform-rather informed discussions and decisions on reform should result in budget process.
