TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY – BRING A FRIEND TO VOTE!
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2004

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 2, 2004, is Election Day and it’s also a great day to call up your friends and family and remind them to exercise their right to vote. This year’s elections are for U.S. President, Vice-President, all of U.S. Congress, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer for re-election, all of the New York State Senate, all of the New York State Assembly, and a myriad of judges and local elections. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., so go before work, during lunch or after dinner, but please go vote. There are many historical examples of why every vote counts, such as in 1920 when women won the right to vote by passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, when Tennessee ratified the amendment by one vote. Four years ago, the Presidential election was essentially won by a mere 537 votes in a single Florida county out of over 50 million votes cast nationwide. Your vote is as important as the President’s, the Governor’s, and your neighbor’s. So please remember to vote and take a friend to the polls as well!

NYS-OPTS

Congratulations to Heritage Christian Home for having their NYS-OPTS proposal accepted to customize Residential Services! This is the second approved project. In addition, an Evaluation Committee of NYS-OPTS has been meeting to discuss the program evaluation piece of NYS-OPTS and what determines whether a project is working successfully or not. We’ll bring you more information on this committee in the future, but as promised, regional meetings in the near future will include a NYS-OPTS program evaluation training/discussion. Look for that on your regional meeting agendas.

As we mentioned in a previous News & Views, NYS – OPTS proposals submitted to NYSACRA have been posted on our website. You can read and comment on proposals by visiting our website at www.nysacra.org and clicking on “NYS-OPTS” on the top menu bar on follow the link in the online version of this News & Views.
