Congress has now reconvened and will be voting on a final Budget Resolution from the Conference Committee soon.  Thanks to you, three weeks ago, the U.S. Senate struck the Medicaid cuts completely from the Senate Budget Resolution.  We need your support again.  Representative Heather Wilson (R-NM) is circulating a letter to her Republican colleagues that urges the House leadership to follow the Senate's lead and strike all Medicaid cuts from the budget during the conference process.  She has also introduced a new bill, H.R. 985, which will create a bipartisan Medicaid Commission.  (See text of letter here)

It is critical to contact your Republican Representatives now!  Urge them to sign onto the Wilson letter and “reject the Medicaid cuts”.  Ask them to “Please sign onto the Rep. Wilson Letter to Chairman Nussle requesting that he remove the reductions and the reconciliation instructions targeted at Medicaid, and, in their place, include a $1.5 million reserve fund for the creation of a bipartisan Medicaid Commission in the final conference agreement for the FY06 Budget.”  They must sign by Friday.
