PROTECT MEDICAID: CONTACT CONGRESS NOW!
TAKE ACTION NOW: USE NYSACRA’s ONLINE ACTION CENTER

We need your help to fight to protect Medicaid. Now is the time to let the President and Congress know that the moral choice is to maintain and protect the Medicaid program for the millions of seniors, children, and people with disabilities who depend on it for their health care lifeline.

In order to fend off efforts to cap and cut Medicaid—to turn it into a block grant—we need the support of your House Representatives. We need them to promise that they will oppose any budget resolution or budget reconciliation bill that caps and cuts Medicaid. They will likely be under tremendous pressure to go along with the President’s proposal in the name of his so-called mandate.

U.S. SENATE MY BE THE LAST HOPE IN PROTECTING MEDICAID

The good news is that Senators Jeff Bingaman (NM) and Patty Murray (WA) organized a letter to the President urging that Medicaid not be cut. 47 Senators have signed it. Both of our U.S. Senators Schumer and Clinton have signed on to this important letter, please thank them both! (See www.nysacra.org or email version for a link to the Bingaman letter)

During the holiday recess, we encourage you to contact your Congressional Reps, setting up meetings if you can: Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121.

The message: While we understand that the federal budget is very tight, Medicaid is a critical support for people with disabilities, those who work and still can’t get health coverage, and for other vulnerable New Yorkers, as well as an economic engine that generates crucial financial benefits and thousands of jobs in New York State. Preserving Medicaid is the right thing to do—for our state’s economy and for those who deserve health care but can’t obtain coverage anywhere else.
