Downsizing and Conversion of Existing Community Residence |
|
|
|
This project consists of downsizing and conversion of an existing community residence into an IRA that would greatly improve the quality of life of the people that we serve by creating smaller and more normalized living environments.
Part I: Executive Summary
Claddagh Commission is proposing a project, which consists of 2 parts:
1. The downsizing and conversion of an existing 12-person community residence into an 8-person Individual Residential Alternative.
2. The relocation of 4 of the 12 residents into an IRA home in the community.
This project would greatly improve the quality of life of the people that we serve by creating smaller and more normalized living environments. A quieter atmosphere would be more conducive for a number of the consumers who are challenged with behavior and/or psychiatric issues. In addition, the large, older building has many obstacles that make it difficult for people with significant physical disabilities to ambulate within the home. Of the 9 bedrooms, all are located on the second floor with the exception of one.
This project is consistent with the 3-IP philosophy, 5 governing principles of OMRDD and the concepts supported by NYSOPTS. Approval of this proposal would result in the conversion of current operating funds as well as the need for additional resources to support costs. There has been a collaborative effort on developing this proposal by the agency board and staff. In addition, we have received unconditional support from the consumers and their families for this project from its infancy. The satisfaction of all stakeholders will be measured on a regular basis through the agency’s internal quality assurance system.
