| · OMRDD ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING ON THE DRAFT OF THE FIVE YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: 2008 - 2012

On September 8, 2008 from 3pm - 6pm, OMRDD will hold hearings at three locations in the state and will be conducted as a live video-conference with Commissioner Diana Jones Ritter. The Commissioner will be in attendance at the Schenectady location and will be participating via video-conference at the other two locations; Metro NY DDSO at 75 Morton Street in Manhattan and the Finger Lakes DDSO at 620 Westfall Road in Rochester. OMRDD intends to utilize the ideas, suggestions, and comments received through the public hearing to further refine the proposed Five Year Comprehensive Plan for Services. OMRDD urges self-advocates, parents of people with developmental disabilities as well as other family members, non-profit providers, professionals, advocates, and other interested parties to participate in the hearing. The draft Plan (115 pages in length) is available on OMRDD's website at www.omr.state.ny.u s and NYSACRA's website at www.nysacra.org. A printed version can be requested through local DDSO offices prior to the hearing. Speakers will be asked to register in advance of the forum, limit their comments to three (3) minutes, and bring three (3) copies of the testimony.
