· ADVOCATE FOR IMPORTANT TREND LEGISLATION
|

CALL YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS!
Senator Shirley Huntley and Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg have introduced legislation to provide a 3% trend factor for many services provided to individuals with developmental disabilities. The trend is essential to provide necessary supports and services to the people we serve.
While we've received a trend for these services over the past three decades, it was not included in this year's State Budget.
As a joint effort with our partner associations and with three weeks to go until the scheduled adjournment of the 2009 Legislative Session, it is important to get the message out to State Legislators.
TELL THEM:
· Individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members rely on these important services and the trend factor is central to the delivery of such services.
· The trend is essential to recruitment and retention efforts in a system which continually suffers from workforce challenges.
· Urge Assembly Speaker Silver and your Assemblymember(s) to move A.7947 from the Assembly Mental Health Committee.
· Urge Senate Majority Leader Smith and your Senator to move S.4901 from the Senate Mental Health Committee.
